You probably don’t know I thought about you when I was younger. I wondered where you were. I wondered what you might be doing. I wondered who you were helping. The military was all I really knew about you. I still knew you were my big brother. I missed you when you were away.
You probably don’t know you coming home was a blessing and you never knew that I felt that way. I can remember visiting your apartments and sometimes I smell things that bring me back. I remember you driving in your Ford Probe. I remember eating dinner when you bartended at Outback Steakhouse! I really enjoyed being with my big brother. You were my hero.
You probably don’t know it but I still think about you. You may have been busy and out of our hometown. You somehow always found a little time to spare to hang out with me. You were there when I was in trouble and needed guidance. You were there when my heart was broke. You were there when I was scared and frustrated with my career. You were there just to say hi!
You probably don’t know it, but you are still my hero.
